Family Days 2011

Sunday 1 April 2012 - Countryside Alliance Raceday

Racing Summary
Countryside Raceday in association with the Countryside Alliance features a highly competitive Jumps card, the highlight of which is The Ascot Veterans Handicap Chase open to horses of ten years or above.

There will be a charity race at 12pm where Huntsmen will go head to head to be crowned Champion of the Track. The Flat sprint named “Race for Repeal” which will be run over 7 furlongs is run under The Rules of Racing. The stakes are high and the competition fierce.

Entertainment Highlights
Off the track there is loads of fun for all the family with a wide range of countryside inspired activities the main highlight of this is a parade of hounds who will commence down the track after the first race. In the main arena we have an array of interactive displays with sheep dogs demonstrating their skills as they herd disobedient geese through narrow gateways. We also have terrier racing, gun dog shows and a spectacular falconry display, throughout the afternoon.

Away from the main arena, racegoers can participate in climbing activities and quad biking. The family farm and shooting gallery are also back by popular demand.

Sunday 22 July 2012 – Betfair Weekend Family Day

Racing Summary
A colourful day, featuring the £40,000 Chris O’Keeffe Sprint, that offers something for everyone, with a combination of spectacular racing action and free entertainment for the children.

Entertainment Highlights
This Family Fun Day is aimed at our younger audience as everyone can come and meet the characters from some of your favourite TV shows. Then relax for our highlight of the afternoon as Peppa Pig and George tell you stories in the Bandstand. All activities will be free of charge and also include face painting and fairground rides, all ideal for the under 10’s.

Saturday 11 August 2012 – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup and Concert

Racing Summary
The Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup is Britain's premier jockeys' competition, where teams of riders from all over the world compete over six races for the coveted trophy.

Entertainment Highlights

There will be an array of activities to keep the whole family entertained from fairground rides to Cheerleader workshops. The majority of activities will be aimed at children aged 10 and upwards.

After the racing there will also be a live music concert in the Old Paddock – artist to be confirmed.

Saturday 3 November 2012 – United House Group Day and Firework Spectacular

Racing Summary
Ascot's first meeting of the new 2012/2013 Jumps Season features the £100,000 United House Gold Cup Chase over three miles. The Byrne Group Handicap Chase and the competitive William Hill Handicap Hurdle over two miles are the key supporting races.

Entertainment Highlights

After the racing action, Ascot presents a Firework Spectacular. All racegoers buying a ticket to the racing are welcome to stay for the show. Fireworks will begin at 6.45pm. Last Admission and any re-admission advised before 4pm. Timings to be confirmed and are subject to change.

Bars, food outlets and fairground rides will all remain open until the Fireworks commence. Candy floss and toffee apples are available all day from the Plaza kiosks.

Saturday 22nd December 2012 – Christmas Meeting

Racing Summary
Ascot's most valuable day of Jumps racing, featuring the two mile £150,000 Ladbroke Handicap Hurdle, the highest profile event of its type outside the Cheltenham Festival.

On a day when hurdlers take centre stage, the Grade 1 Long Walk Hurdle, the early season championship for stayers, caps a top quality programme.

Entertainment Highlights

Off the track, the whole family can join in the festive fun by taking a spin around the Ascot ice rink enjoy the fairground rides, experience Christmas tales live from the cosy confines of the Bandstand and even meet Santa’s reindeer! And of course, the Christmas Meeting wouldn’t be complete without a visit to see Father Christmas, who will be waiting in his Winter Wonderland to give a gift to every child, subject to availability and good behaviour throughout the year.

End the day with a Christmas carol concert to get you in the festive mood. Song books are provided free of charge and audience participation is encouraged! What better way to start your Christmas celebrations.
